He should have put down landscape fabric befor putting down the rocks. I would call the landscaper back and have him correct the problem.

I agree. The only thing I've had luck with was landscaping fabric.

Hello, aim sad to relay -Its going to be a recurring problem!

I understand your exasperating situation as we had a 200 foot pea gravel driveway that was a nightmare to maintain. Weeds and vegetation constantly popped up. Our options were to use round up vegetation killer or the weed dragon. Both worked but needed continued reapplication which seemed like 7-14 days. We ended up putting in a concrete driveway to solve this issue and I’ve never been happier!

Even when weed fabric is initially placed, sad to say it breaks down and weed seed is so small that it can penetrate the fabric. So, before placing weed fabric down, mix in a weed preventing mixture like Preen. Preen works for about 3 months. Sprinkle Preen into your rock garden periodically. So if you plant annuals into your rock garden remember that you are disturbing the soil, this allows for weed seed to get into your garden. Also, have yoy ever wondered why weeds are so green while surrounding grass turns yellow or brown?

Weeds have a great and strong root system. Many folks have sod type grass which has a pretty limited root system. While weeds often have roots that are long and can travel deeply into the earth. I hope this info helps. If anything keep an eye onyourgarden and pull those weedswhile they're young and don't have time to grow in deeply. And remember, when they're pulled the soil is open and ready for more weed seed invasion.
