    Step 1

Apply an herbicide, such as one labeled "2,4-D," to the crown vetch. If the crown vetch is near other plants, paint it on with a paintbrush so you don't kill the other plants. Repeat as you notice the crown vetch growing again. Always adhere to the dosing and application directions that are printed on the label.

    Step 2

Purchase a roll of thick black plastic and spread it out over all the area where the crown vetch is located. Secure it with stakes or heavy objects such as bricks. This method works well for large patches of crown vetch and if the herbicide was ineffective at killing your crown vetch.

    Step 3

Leave the plastic there for at least 60 days. Everything underneath should die and the soil should be sterilized.

Had some once. Thought it was a good idea for ground cover. NO! In 2 or 3 years it was spreading in every direction and choking out other things. I did what Robbi did as well as had someone come and dig it up and kept after it with weed killer. I feel sorry for anyone who plants it. It is fine out along the highways but not in a yard. As fast as it grows it could become one of those pests that everyone is trying hard to get rid of.

I was going to say Roundup but doubt that would do the job. You'll probably have to us brush killer. It's a pretty plant but it takes over everything. Try the above but plan on a long-term problem.
