How do you keep wasp from building in the attic?
Our home has a metal roof which has an open ridge vent. How can we keep wasp out but still allow the air flow needed for our attic fan to function properly?
How do you think they are getting in? I have screen doors on all the entry / exits to my house. Since my back yard is completely fenced, I installed "snake fencing." Maybe call a local pest control company or snake handler in your area for an inspection to help you determine what to do.
If you have gaps in your foundation, seal them with caulk. Keep screens on your windows and check the weatherstripping around your doors. Be sure to keep hiding places like stacked firewood off the ground and away from entry points.
Caulk all the holes and crevices you can find around the foundation of your house and siding. Rake all debri away from house, and trim back scrubs. Lay down a layer of lava rock around the house, or use diatomaceous earth that they don't like slithering over. Make sure you have screens on all the windows and open doors that fit properly.
All of the above recommendations from Hometalk members are right on. Additionally, be sure to use 1/4-inch hardware cloth to cover open floor areas under porches/stoops. Patrol your flower gardens, potted flowers, window boxes, shrubs, etc., around your home for toads, frogs, mice, bugs...i.e., "snake food.". Remove all abandoned buildings, yard rubbish, fallen brush, abandoned cars...any place that can warm or cool a snake. If nothing else, as Naomie recommends, contact a critter removal service for their input. Best wishes!
Mix moth balls with cat litter and sprinklek around the perimeter of your home.
Hi Wanda! Here is a site that offers tips and advice much the wise folks here at Home Talk some thing may spark an idea you can use to deal with your snake problem! Good luck! http://wildlifeanimalcontrol.com/snakes.html
Simple...lay moth balls anywhere you have a snake problem. They "smell" the air with their tongues and they can't stand moth balls. You can lay some by the doors going out, such as on the porch or steps. You can put them in the yard around your garden and/or flower beds.Snakes won't go near them.Renew as them evaporate.Good luck.
