We are having same problem. Try orange and lemon peels. We bought lemongrass essential oil and diluted with water and sprayed around, you will have to repeat after rain. We also bought mothballs and put in old pill bottles which we poked small holes into that the cats couldn't eat as they are poison. We use these in our golf cart to keep feral cats out.

Put done chicken wire and cover with mulch. Cats do like walking or scratching where there is wire because it gets between their claws.

I have the same problem and I am trying coffee grounds and it seems to work. After making your morning coffee just sprinkle the grounds on the soil.

I've tried moth balls but now I'm using pine cones which look nice as well! Cats don't like walking or digging in these plus they don't disappear like the moth balls.

Sprinkle red pepper all around the top of the dirt, they can't stand it. Works for dogs too.

I hope it works for you Pz gonzales. As I said the coffee grounds so far is working for me. I have tried the essential oil, moth balls, pepper, ammonia soaked rags etc and always had a problem with rain and watering washing them away and having to start over.
