A pot of boiling water pour directly on center of weed. They will die. So far I haven't had many return so far. I know sounds like a lot of work but I do mine as I am canning. I empty hot water bath on to them before I start the next batch of canning.
I direct the pouring directly into the center of thistle. Doesn't seem to affect the grass much. I have noticed some small starts in different areas. Tomorrow I will be boiling some water before they get a strong hold.

hand pull or use the boiling water.
i like bees and bees like thistles. i leave one and kill the others -hot water works fine.
Thick Gloves and a Strong Arm should do it. It did it for me!
