How to clean up dead weeds from crushed rock yard?

I live in AZ and have crushed rock in my yard that was not maintained so when we moved in you could barely see the pretty rock through the grass/weeds growing throughout the yard. We weed eated down to level of rocks and sprayed weed killer but now we have a yard of dead grass/weeds and rock. Any ideas how to get rid of the dead stuff? Short of waiting for it to decompose?

    Is burning it a possibility?

Since they have been sprayed with weed killer they should easily come out.Short of that there is nothing you can doid you want to incorporate the rocks in the landscape.

I learned (on Hometalk) to put baking soda or salt on the rocks and the weeds die. It worked for me. As for the dead stuff, I guess, you just have to pull it out the first time.

  • Dig it up and dispose. Or if it gets really dry, just use a leaf blower.

Please, in the future, don't spray chemicals as they are toxic to our environment as well as the beneficials we depend upon. The use of salt will make the earth unplantable, rendering it such that nothing will grow again. Boiling water will kill all unwanted plants, but you may sow plants in this area immediately (if so wanted); you just pull the dead weeds. Unfortunately, you will most likely have to pull up these weeds. Perhaps the rock layer is heavy enough that you can sweep the loose materials.
