If your ant problem are of the same general appearance as "sugar ants", size, color, etc. you probably have what are called moisture ants. unfortunately when moisture ants begin to appear, they have "probably" already developed their colony somewhere near in a wet area around wet/saturated walls, flooring, under cabinets that have water leak issues, or exterior water penetration. The ants are more than likely a by-product of a more concerning issue! I'd do some serious investigating or have an Experienced person do some intense looking to see the location of the colony----- (could) be a rot issue, that is their environment.
Put cornmeal where you see trails of ants. They take it back to the nest and it kills the colony. We use Jiffy cornmeal because it is sweet and they love it. They cannot digest it and they die. Keep the cornmeal out until you see no more ants. It is child safe, pet safe, environment safe, and best of all it works! We learned the hard way from an old timer.
I like the Victor's Natural Ant spray, its mint, and will kill on contact and when wiped on surfaces.... repels the ants.
Sprinkling cornmeal or baking soda will take care of them- good luck :)
