Spread mothballs or crystals around your yard yard.

they also poop in window boxes. to keep them off outside plants i sprinkle cayenne pepper where they sit
Cats hate vinegar--- so soak some old rags or fabric and place them around the areas you prefer they not be.

Our across the street, neighbors cat seems to be always snooping around our yard. But the other day my husband noticed the cat really focusing on a hole in our wood pile. He said if the cat has found mice in there he is welcome any time!
