How can I keep my neighbor's weeds from growing under my wood fence? He doesn't take care of his yard and I don't want them growing under onto my flowers and I have to constantly weed them under my fence.

  • Since you probably can't/don't want to weed his side of the fence, Spray the ones that creep through with this:

    Hi Linda,

I agree with Ann. It's just something you'll have to keep doing to stop them from coming into your yard. Plant roots don't care about fences. :( Even if you dig a 10" trench and bury a metal barrier along the fence line, the roots will eventually find their way under it. I suggest getting yourself a pump bottle or spray bottle, fill it with the vinegar/salt mixture and spray it weekly or even more often if needed. Wishing you the best.

We have the same problem and their weeds are climbing weeds too. We talked to the neighbors and mowed one pass with our mower on their side every time we mow. We also put down our vinegar recipe to kill the plants along the fence line on his side as well as ours. This has prevented any more weeds coming into the yard. They like it as it saves them that one pass with a mower to mow their lawn! This has worked well for us, hope it can work for you too, Linda.

20 Mule Team Borax will destroy weeds, use sparsely as it will spread, away from your plants but perfect under the fence!
