I use plain white vinegar diluted 2 vinegar to 1 water. Works like a charm. I try to spray the center of the weed to get to the roots. However, If your lawn is very weedy like mine was I used a weed and feed that was non toxic then kept up with the weeds using my trusty vinegar.

Hi Nancy, hope this helps you out. mix 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts Epsom salt with 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap like Dawn. pour this into a spray bottle.

    • Apply your weed killer with Epsom salt during the middle of the day for maximum effectiveness. The weed killer won’t be diluted by dew/moisture.
    • Use your Epsom salt weed killer on days when the weather is hot and sunny. This one is the most effective way to make sure that your weeds are thoroughly dehydrated, which is what will kill them. The weed solution is less effective when used in cold weather.
    • Don’t forget to remove the weeds after they’ve dried out. Reducing the likelihood of new hair growth makes sure that you won’t have as much regrowth.

  • Here's what I use: Take a spray bottle and cover the bottom with salt and fill it up with vinegar. Add a few drops of dish soap and shake. Spray on the weeds.

Water, Dawn and Epsom salt works well. I usually pour the salt right on the weed, then spray with hot water and Dawn.
