The proper way is to cut out the sheetrock and replace it .(not as hard as it sounds) However , you must resolve the issue of how it got there or it will just return. Proper venting is a must. a fan in the ceiling and a window will do the trick. But only if used on a regular basis.
Put bleach and warm water in spray bottle, spray, maybe let sit a minute or two, and wipe/scrub.
It stinks because, well, your scrubbing a ceiling, but it should do the trick.
Most people don't think about ever needing to clean walls and ceilings, but they are suppose to get a wash too!
This should solve surface mold.
If it doesn't wash away and is in the sheet rock then get a professional.
