How do I safely remove a tick from my dog? I remember there is something to rub on a tick that will make them back out so they can be removed. Can’t remember what since we have never had ticks.

Possibly turpentine? From the pharmacy, not the type you would clean with. I think it’s called ‘gum spirit of turpentine’ I may be mistaken so I would look it up perhaps in the old farmers almanac first.
