I am struggling with bindweed in my garden. How can I get rid of it?

I have trees growing in the same area so am reluctant to use Round-up.. any other ideas that might work would be appreciated!

I'm afraid you have to live with it and just control it, because the roots go for miles underground.

I had heard that ... and it tries to come up in my lawn too.

The only solution would be to smother it out with newspaper or cardboard

My particular version of this horribly invasive weed manages to come up through my blacktopped driveway ... so that probably won't faze them.

Roundup will work fine, but take out the grass if any too Roundup is very quickly neutralized with contact of soil. thus, it will not make it to the tree roots, I use it around 5 apple trees, 7 yellow willow, 1 crab apple, and 4 spruce trees. I go right under three of the spruce trees set in a triangle to keep the weeds down under them. Just do NOT use any thing containing DICAMBA, it will hurt the trees. I have done this since 1986, and have a master gardener rating acquired through classes at Ag.

Thank you for that reassuring answer. :-)
I will give it a go and hope for the best!
