Sounds like fungus gnats.Try spraying horticulture oil on the lilies

Check your soil. See if the bugs are coming from there. If so, repot with new soil.

yes see them crawling around on top the soil

Cover the soil with a thick layer of cornmeal, Pour boiling water down all of your drains, and make a gnat swatter by spraying cooking oil on a paper plate. Spray each bug with the oil after you catch them on the plate to insure they die.

    I hope that helps

  • They could be fungus gnats, Ann. They lay their eggs in the top layer of damp soil of potted plants. Let the soil dry out and your problem should solve itself.

    • No. You just let the surface dry out enough to kill the eggs. I've done it and it works!

use rubbing alcohol to spray bugs on your plants. It will not harm plants. Spray on soil surface and the pot rim inside. Every day until you don't see the many more and then about once a week for a few weeks. Alcohol turns to water after a couple of minutes, doing no harm to plants but sure does a great job of killing bugs.

yea it worked when I first sprayed saw dead bugs, but then just later in the same day there they were on soil and flying around again.

have you tried Neem oil? Home improvement stores or garden centers carry it.

Take it outside, take the plant out of the current pot and carefully remove the soil from around the roots. Immediately repot in a new pot with new soil. Wash the old pot well if you want to reuse it.
