Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
A humane solution would be to sprinkle crushes red pepper or black pepper around the perimeter of the outside area. Their little sniffer will stay back and even squirrels and rabbits.
Dogs ususualy only dig for a few reasons 1 to find a cool place to lay 2 hunting something, they can hear and smell things undergroundh as moles worms other small animals. 3 or to hide things , a bone or toy.knowing why hes digging might help you to come up with a way to stop. Hard habbit to break lol good luck!
Dogs natural instinct is to dig...and fresh turned soil is sheer bliss to them. To train them its going to take lots of patience and love. Your going to want to supervise their outside activities when you see him starting to dig clap your hands loudly..blow a whistle..put coins or rocks in a empty soda can...whatever you use you want it to distract him....then redirect his attention by throwing a ball ...or favorite toy. Get him running and playing...a tired dog is less likely to dig.
Another thing you can use is dog and cat repellant...your local greenhouse can advise you on what type and how to use it. If all else fails....put a fence around it. Home centers are a great place to go and speak to someone about type and cost. Depending on the size of your garden you can easily put it up over a weekend.
Train train train! Chances are she is bored. And needs way more exercise. Digging for dogs is a natural instinct. It can be done, will just take time, a boatload of patience and consistency. Everyone in the household must be on the same page. Dogs just want to please you and receive unconditional love. Here are some great tips.

I have 6 + dogs (and 6 cats) in my yard everyday. No one digs. Well one sorta does, but he is a "baby in training" - he likes to hide his treats. (He never gets them because the other dogs find them. 🐶)
Good luck and keep us posted!
I've heard that putting cayenne pepper in the area will deter them. I don't know if its the smell or the burn of the pepper......
