Natural Flea and Tick Killer

My son lives in a gated complex that is over run with feral kitty's. Several residents feed them and now he has a flea and tick problem on his fenced in patio that spread the infestation to his dogs. They bring the pests in and that spreads to his house cats. So I'm looking for a natural product or remedy that I can treat his yard with. We don't want to use poisions that will make his pets sick. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For 20 years or more, I have used a product called "Critter Oil." It was first formulated by two women who had a pet grooming and holistic product shop in St. Petersburg, Florida (where I use to live). Critter Oil can be used on dogs, cats, horses, birds, exotics, and even on your lawn and plants. It can be mixed in your pets' shampoo, with water in a spray bottle, or with baking soda and sprinkled on your carpet. If you have an itchy pet with chronic skin problems, Critter Oil will also help that too. Critter Oil is all natural, as it is made with a blend of 15 different essential herbal oils. It smells amazing, really fresh and clean! It's a little bit pricey but a little bit goes a long way. I think if you follow the directions, you will very pleased with the Critter Oil. If you need a powder-based product for sprinkling on carpet, you can mix the Critter Oil with baking soda, Borax powder and salt. It can be made into a spray to mist on the dogs before and after their trips outside. (Complete directions for the powder and spray on the website.) Be sure to check out the section on the website called "Articles." There are several really good articles about treating your pets naturally which you may find helpful. Here's the website if anyone would like more information or to place an order: http://critteroil.com/ (I am not connected with the Critter Oil company, nor do I receive any compensation for recommending their product. I have personally used the product with great success so I'm more than happy to pass along the info about Critter Oil to anyone who hates putting toxic insecticides on their pets to treat ticks and fleas.) Since it might be a bit expensive to treat a larger yard/patio area with Critter Oil, Diatomaceous Earth is another option for killing fleas.

Go to gardening store and ask about beneficial nematodes to treat yard..natural, safe, and lasts for years. About $45. Also after much trial and error we found a natural flea pill made from vitamins that truly works. I found it at a booth at State Fair, but you can get it online for less than $20 for couple month supply. It is called Flea Treats For Dogs and Cats. Takes about a week to kick in. It really works.
