I had the same thing. I ended up getting a Full Exclusion. They come in and seal off all the areas and lay traps. Then they check them every other day till caught or no sign. It was not cheap and I paid $1400 for a 3 bed 3 bath 1500 sq ft house. But I used to hear things running around attic and crawlspace and not any more. The rat also did $950 damage to my HVAC duct work so it was time to do it. Sorry that this is not a cheaper way. But you can also try traps. They put out good old fashion Victor Rat traps and got a big rat within 2 days.

I use "CATCHMASTER" glue boards, the mice are too light to set off snap traps, the water bugs here are bigger than the mice. Oneboard canhold 4-6 mice, i know, inhumane, ane cruel, but number out weights, cruelness. Or go to local pound ask about, barnyard cats. Get 3 or 4. Ferot, wild, cats. Bag catfood water dish and food bowl. The cats will hunt all night, all week, all the time. Cheap and helping homeless cats get a job.

Or check for your local, cat cllinic, spay neuter, they have trap, spay, release. All donated, no adoption fees, tell them you need some barnyard cats,. Should not cost anything, just carrier to transport, the cats, back toyour place, as they arenot friendly, but workhard for food.

  • Get a free inspection from any exterminator. Then heed their advice on how to flush them out and plug up the holes. Make sure your property is neat and tidy.

We had this same problem when we purchased our house in the California high desert. Field mice coming from across the street desert and went to the pound and got a cat, no more mice. Had the cat for 13 years.

Yes, the best advice is to get an exterminator to come out and identify all outside places they can be entering. The professionals are good at this and find places you might miss as it just takes the tiniest space for them to get in. You can then plug up all places of entrance or have them do it for an additional expense. Traps will have to be laid to catch the critters already inside... or like suggested get a cat. And by the way anyone having gopher problems, PineSol will send them on their way. Cotton balls soaked in it stuffed into their holes. Have patience, they will finally leave. Racoons hate moth balls. They will run like jack rabbits if you spread them around. I've used them both and they work.

If you can stand one, get a cat. Cats are very efficient. We got a couple in our neighborhood that keep rodents away before they ever get into your house! I guess you could have an inside cat and an outside cat. We used to have a problem, but for years now, no more! Good luck! A.Z.
