You can sit wire mesh through the garden and cover it with mulch. With that you can apply blood meal through the garden. They do not like the odor and hate the wire mesh.

When you have lemons or orange's just put the peal on or around the planted area. Also cats hate this too.....

I used some chicken wire over my bulbs when I planted them a year ago and I haven't had any issues with the many squirrels that run around my yard.

get the clear plastic carpet protection runners. cut it to go around your plants and lay it upside down. The little plastic pieces that hold it to the carpet poke the squirrels and cats and other creatures feet they wont come over to that area. Or a smellier repellant is moth balls.. set a few around the area.. they hate the smell.. hope it helps

Strange---usually rodents leave daffodil bulbs alone. I use Red pepper to keep them away from my tulip bulbs---sprinkle it in the hole that I dug, then pop the bulb in, put more pepper on top of the bulb, then fill it in and put more pepper on top---no only does it keep varmints away but allows me to see where I had already planted as I tend to plant at different intervals. Not sure if this will help but it won't hurt to try it.

I had to contend with the deer that wanted to eat all my bulbs and the cats that wanted to poop on them. I put down chicken wire and lightly sprinkled mulch over it - just enough to hide the wire.

I asked about this issue once but it was just to keep them from storing their food in my garage. I read up on moth balls and decided to stay away from them. I went with peppermint oil! I just put some on cotton balls then put them in old K-cups and spread them out.

I have the same problem in my backyard. Even with my flowering plants. I sprinkle Cheyenne pepper around them and it stopped them right away. Every few weeks I check to be sure I can still see a bit of the red cheyenne and if I can't, it's time to sprinkle again. I buy the cheap plastic bottle of cheyenne or Big Lots for a dollar. Works well for me.

I was told to make a box of 1/4" wire cloth and put my bulbs inside and pull the lid down over them and then fill in hole with soil.

I put a layer of chicken wire over that part of my garden that had bulbs, then covered it with mulch. It worked but was a mess to clean up in the fall.
