There is a commercial product called Terra which I have heard is very effective. If you are like me and don't want to use chemicals, cinnamon essential oil painted along the route where the ants are entering might work.

Go buy boric acid (natural substance non-toxic). Find the area where they are coming in. Sprinkle around there so they walk in it. When they clean themselves it kills them. Also GREAT in back of cabinets, behind stove, fridge, etc to kill and keep roaches out. You can buy online or at pharmacy. Get pure NOT mixed with other chemicals. Boric acid is all natural. Won't hurt pets...do it yourself green pest control!😉

    Mix together

    1 cup of sugar

    1/2 cup of hot water

    1 Tablespoon of Borax

Saturate a cotton ball placed in a plastic bottle cap and set several around in the ants' trails. The ants carry the solution back to their colony and they are soon gone.

(FYI-these are basically the same ingredients that are in Terro)

Sprinkle "Sugar twin or any fake sugar" where you see them and just leave it. Ants will be gone and it's safe if you have pets or toddlers around.

Boric acid - sprinkle where they are coming in and in back of cabinets

  • packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are coming in if you can find it, or even on your counter in a small lid. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
