My 93 yr old uncle puts chewing gum in the holes. He said they cant digest it and will die. Sounds gross but he swears it works.

When we had a large yard with a riding mower we also had a big roller that we filled with water and rolled all over the yard. Squashed the poor little guys, worked great.

The trick I use is to buy a lot of ground hot red pepper. I get it at dollar stores 2 for a dollar dump in entrance and open up runs and dump in runs. I use it on any animal from chipmunks, moles, and even woodchucks.Dump dirt over pepper so as they dig through pepper it gets in their eyes, nose and mouth ! It is humane ,won't kill ,but in time running into the pepper several times will drive them out of your yard!

We put down small hole chicken wire. You can get it at garden centers, or places like Home Dept. We scraped and leveled the dirt due top the damage from the voles. You can just put it down and three inches of dirt over it. More than three inches and they will tunnel above the wire. Also planted plants in wire baskets for voles, moles...etc. It's been three years and not a single problem.
