Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
Hi The, It could be a mouse, or even squirrels. Here's a link that may help: http://www.bugspray.net/shrews-voles/finding-seed-piles-in-basement.html
Good luck!
Mice do this. We live in a rural area and every once in a while a few mice get into the house. We then find seeds and stolen bits of dog kibble in drawers, shoes, among towels, etc.
Chipmunks do this too
Mice!
Most likely mice. Go to the dollar store and buy traps. I hate to kill any living creature and as cute as mice are they carry disease. Set out a few traps with a small piece of lunchmeat or peanut butter firmly smashed on the bait pad. Other wise they will steal the bait and not get caught. Set them out until you don't see any for several weeks.
Please use hav a heart traps. see them at hardware store.
You'll feel better
Careful using warfarin to eliminate mice. Mice will even move that without killing them. Get a cat that will chase mice.
Don't use poisons, they can die in places where you can't access and will have to live with the smell until the little bodies are broken down completely, any other pets can get hold of them also. I sued sticky traps in areas where you can find there paths, but are not in areas where they would come in contact with things like clothing, food, etc. I used mouse traps bailed with peanut butter in all other places. Most likely they are looking for safe places to stay and next for the winter and are trying to store up food for that time. Pretty soon you may find your towels getting ripped up for bedding somewhere for their nest. You can use the live traps, but that won't stop them from coming back. They may be cute, but they are nasty and will get into everything, even if they have to chew holes to get where they want for more food. See if you can find where they come in, you will see black where they travel, as well as their poo. Check any opening you can find around any pipes or wires coming into the house, as well as windows, they can get into very small openings, I have been told as small as a half inch. Fill holes with stuff like Brillo pads and seal it with the expanding foam or whatever, they shouldn't be able to get by the metal to get into the house if they can chew through the sealant you use.
Steel wool (like Brillo pads) is excellent for wrapping around pipes, into small holes, etc. to prevent mice entry. I use traps; my cats can't get into the drawers where they often are. I have seen stashes of DeCon; they don't always eat it! Peanut butter or cheese on a trap works.
