Daffodils are universally avoided by animals. Roses are also supposed to be protected by their thorns, but one of mine was eaten by deer. However it grew back beautifully and wasn't eaten again. Look in catalogs. They usually say whether a plant is deer resistant in the description. You can also try putting chunks of Irish Spring soap all around and through the flower bed. There are many repellants on the market which you spray on. Just be conscientious about spraying again after it rains.

try hanging Irish spring soap in mesh bags. The don't like the smell. It's cheap place to start. I've used cayenne sprinkled on broccoli to keep critters from my dinner.
