I didn't used to have an Ant problem but neighbors on both side have Ants and now I have Ants. I put out the bait stations and it seems to attract all the Ants from the entire block. I really would like to try a more industrial approach. Any tips or ideas is appreciated.

I use Amdro granules and I spread them around my property, but I also boil water and carefully put it on the ant piles... yes, it is mean to ants. However, it is effective.

I mix Borax and sugar with a little water in lids from milk jugs and put them around the house where kids and pets can't get them. You need to add a little water everyday. The Borax is the poison and the sugar attracts them. It may seem like you are getting a lot of ants at first, but it will get rid of them. If you find ant hills in your yard, pour boiling water over them. This will instantly kill them.

Use a granule that you can spread over your whole yard. Disturbing the beds just causes them to move. If you spray chemical, boiling water, gas etc., that only kills the ants that come in direct contact with whatever you're using. Ant beds are mostly underground, how ever high they are above the ground, their double that under ground. If you use bait, sprinkle it around the perimeter of the bed, not on it. They will not eat it if its on their bed, they'll just move it. Hope this helps.

I've also been told that cayenne pepper around perimeter of your home works. Supposedly they don't cross the line of pepper. Can't hurt to try it.

I heard that you have to use bait. The ants carry the bait on their feet back to the ant hill to kill the queen ant. I heard that if you dont kill the queen ant, then she will continue to reproduce.

  • I use packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.

I read this from : Itsmemic

Medicated powder from the Dollar Tree. It has eucalyptus in it...menthol...I puff it around my homes foundation..and inside under my birdcages in the cracks under moldings. Work immediately and they never come back. I do this at the first sign of ants..in one day..GONE. The powder is in a very large container and lasts quite awhile too !! And smells great !

Not toxic to my birds OR dog

What if you make a barrier around the house.

I did some research, since we know what works for one person doesn't always work for another. I found this site and it's pretty informative. I know some tips you may not be able to use but there are some good ones also that will hopefully help.

Ants are so weird. One time I found them inside the freezer in the garage!! What would possess them to go inside a freezer only to die? They must have sent signals back or something ~ there were no ant trails only a freezer full of dead ants. Hasn't happened since.
