First try to get rid of the grubs. You can purchase something at HD or Lowes for grubs, not sure what it is called. Moles eat the grubs and voles eat your bulbs and hosta and any kind of root underground. Moles and voles share tunnels. It only takes 1 or 2 moles or voles to completely destroy your yard. I have a metal windmill mole chaser. It seems to work pretty well. All of my plants that I put in the ground, I plant in a large bucket with the bottom cut out, because the voles don't dig but so far under the ground and so far everything has survived. Good luck to you. Those are nasty little devils!
