Transplant it! When you do make sure you do this in a trash bag and take off ALL the dirt! Then take the hose to the roots to make sure there are no more ants! Repot it in new soil and either wash the old pot really good or a new one. Spray to kill the ants. Put the old soil in the trash! that way you make sure you have thrown them all away. On the new pot I've put vaseline at the bottom my pots after that happens. Best of Luck Debby.

Diatomaceous earth powder. Has many benefits. Can be used on animals to kill fleas. Can be given to animals as long as it's food grade to kill parasites, like roundworms etc. It's all natural and not a man-made chemical.
Use cornmeal. Ants take it to the nest and it kills the queen too. We use Jiffy as it is sweet and they readily gobble it up. Jiffy is safe for pets and children if they get into the cornmeal. It is inexpensive and not hard on the environment. You will see a decline after the first application, but reapply if you see any ants and the cornmeal is gone. One box is good for 5 or so applications on a large hill. It is only about 50cents a box. Safe, inexpensive, effective: you can't beat it.
I would get rid of the existing soil in the pot, spray off the roots well, so make sure there are no ant eggs or small ants left behind & then if all the roots look healthy I would repot in in the pot, after washing out the pot & rinsing it very well. If you kept it outside, check to see where they came from. There may well be more. There are many types of ant killer, depending on whether you have children or pets! Good luck!
