Add This Charming Pallet Porch to Any Garden Shed!

One of my fav things to decorate up for a given season is my little upcycled rustic garden shed out back.

You can catch up on the big 'ol shed history HERE.

However there was one thing that I felt the garden shed still needed...

I visualized a charming front porch to offer the shed more presence and to provide an easier way to mow around the planters by the door.

But I didn't want to spend a bundle on new wood. Plus, that wouldn't even match the current reclaimed wood I sided the shed with!

So then I mulled over... would simple pallets work?

Dredging up all the patience I had, I held off! Until one fine day I rode my bike past a pile of pallets on the curb...

Dashing home to return with the truck, I couldn't wait to put my vision into action!

I'd say they were worth the wait, don't you?!

Here's what I did...

Repurposing is fun! However it takes patience when you wait out the right materials.

So I was super delighted to find a pile of pallets all the same size on the curb! SCORE!

To prepare the front of the shed, a shovel was used to scoop away sod and weeds while leveling the soil.

At this point, one could put down gravel, cement footings, or landscape fabric. I chose to go without.

The pallets were then positioned into place one at a time, using a carpenter level to ensure their positioning was perfect.

So here's the before...

... and the after! Pallet garden shed porch complete!

That was easy... and cute too!

The little pallet porch added just the right finishing touch to the shed without building a thing!

What a difference, huh? Think you may add a little pallet porch to your own shed this summer as well?

Nice look. I would fill the gaps with with extra pallet wood. Would look like a boardwalk. You can loose garden tools, keys, etc. between the gaps. Would be a pain to have to remove a pallet to retrieve something and having to reset it.
