About when was this made?

It was probably made in the 1930's or early 40's. Can be called a "waterfall" piece of furniture due to the rounded portion of the front.

Agree with Gk on the dates and terminology. The pieces use a lot of veneer. It's hard to see, but this looks in good shape.

Please, do not paint it. It's beautiful and becoming more rare. It'll need lemon oil or similar, consistently, to keep the veneer in good shape.

I have a cedar chest and chest of drawers that belonged to my mother. She acquired them in the late 40’s early 50’s I believe she told me. Yes Waterfall pattern is what she called it.

It is 1930's, early 40's what a beautiful piece. It shouldn't be painted, it showx the craftsmanship of the times. I would love it.

I have a set just like it. one has a mirror and a big dresser. The stamp on the back was 1942. I landed up using it in my dining room! Love it.

I have a chest of drawers and full size headboard/footboard. I painted the bed and now no longer even use it. Still use the drawers tho.

same here ... mother bought a bedroom set in nineteen 42-43 while working during the war. Waiting for dad to come home

My mother’s bedroom suite, like this one, had 1940 stamped on the back of the dresser. I have the shifferobe(sp?), dresser with round mirror attached and four poster bed, and dresser bench. All in excellent condition, just sitting in storage. I just can’t part with it.

My parents had a dining room suite of this...table w/6 chairs, china cabinet and buffet. China cabinet and buffet had legs. Buffet looked like what you have, except I don't see legs...and buffet did not have what appears to be a mirror on the top back of your piece. They married in 1937 and bought first home early 40's, so would have purchased pieces then. Sold the china cabinet to a friend when we closed out parents' home...he still has it. The table and chairs and the buffet are long gone.

This style was a signature of furniture made in Grand Rapids, MI.

I bought a dining room set just exactly like this, but without the mirror, We bought the set at an auction and when we got it home and opened the drawers there was a newspaper dating from 1939. This was in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Y son has the set now.

I think 1940 ish but not sure. There was a very similar and beautiful set on this site a woman had chalk painted for her clients. I love painted furniture, I have some myself, but this set was gorgeous. Two mirrors, dresser, a vanity type piece and a bench? Beautiful inlaid wood and looked in great condition. This is beautiful as is. Wish I could find a few pieces! 😊

I have an identical piece. Had another piece thst had legs but it was destroyed in a tornado. Lovely piece.

I have a similar style china cabinet with identical handles and the same laminate pattern on the front. I love it. Painting furniture was not as trendy when I got it 30 years ago, so I refinished it with polyurathane. I love that old piece. It was from the 40's, as others have pointed out. I have a dining table from the same era, though not exactly the same style. These were mass-produced for a general market, and not terribly expensive at the time, but they were well made. I've thought several times of replacing the table, but when I look at modern furniture that is available within my budget, I think of the $45 I spent on the table and feel terrific about the one I have! I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
