Can I put an old brass chandelier on my covered front porch?
The chandelier was in my dining room at a previous home.

You bet you can! As you said, be certain to keep it under cover and that the wiring is done properly. You may want to spray the fixture with polyurethane to help protect the finish from being damaged from weather elements, i.e., humidity/dampness, etc. Good luck.
As long as it isn't going to get wet you can! If you don't have a light already out there you can always add a plug to end of the chandelier wires and just plug it in.
