How to use Cane seats only of an old chair in the garden?

They will mold and rot very quickly unless in a covered environment.
Spray seal them for outdoor use.
If you want to hang a plant from them, I would reinforce the “cane hole” you want to use with wire (like heavy picture wire) , attaching it to the back of the chair frame.
