Please post a picture of your front porch.

When we can see what you are starting with, we will then be able to give some practical suggestions on how you might improve its appearance.

    Hello Sue,

If it is paint, then buy a different colour and paint over the old paint. If it is stain, then you could use exterior timber our or stain on it. Take a look in the Isles at your local DIY store or large Supermarket. You could also Stencil an other colour pattern on top of existing colour too. Good luck!

  • You can sand the paint off and stain it or just paint over it again if tha paint is not loose.

If you have a pic we can better help you with specifics? I would power wash your front porch and then take your picture to Sherwin Williams. They have deck paint and stain that will be very good for your application. It will be more expensive but it is worth it to last. Check out how to power wash and see before and afters:

Hi Sue, could you lay a rug over it? I am not sure if it is a covered porch or not but they make some gorgeous outdoor rugs now. If you have a little seating area this would be great.

  • Clean it, sand it, and repaint it in a color you like. If you don't want to do all of that, you could buy a rug to put over it. They have some beautiful rugs made for the outdoors now.

You can repaint it in a color you like with a good sealer or you could stencil over the color you don't like to make it look fresh.

Clean and repaint it? There are so many beautiful quartz color paints out there. We happen to use one on our indoor concrete laundry room it was remarkable makeover. For added visual punch you could add a rug.

Sue: I am a big fan of outdoor rugs! They really liven up a space, define it and are easy to take care of! (I use my leaf blower.)

There are some great porch paints on the market. I would ask the person at the paint desk or use Sherwin Williams.

Were you wanting information on repainting the wooden floor, or were you asking more for suggestions on how you can downplay the look of the floor by sprucing up the appearance of the rest of the porch?

Can you just pick a new color and paint over it?

Hi Sue, you can do a few things to improve this, 1. paint the wood a color you like to freshen it up, 2. buy an outdoor carpet to lay down, it will be warm on the feet in the evening. 3. put down some of the outdoor deck lino, it's easy to care for and you don't have to paint it. I attached a link for you to check out, there are several brandsof this out there
