Oh dear, I've had professionals they didn't wan to do certain things on my hardwood floor extension that I've you-tubed and done with no problem. My first inclination is to do a concrete overlay to even things out, if you don't want to dig that up as it would be a messy project. But, I don't think it would be that bad to dig it up. It looks worse than it is for DIY'ers who have the time.. If you opt for the overlay, once you've got the concrete down, you can do anything. Concrete can look gorgeous with all the options availabe, but my guess is you can add some type of flooring on top of that. It may seem like the easy way out, but changing it down the road would only mean digging it up, the same thing you'd have to do now.
and that will be beautiful! But, it's so easy to go overboard on advise sometimes... and fun to explore! I found a couple of sites that may help. But, hopefully you get some really good advice, too!
