It might look nice with a pergola built over it. And some pots of flowers!

My idea for a pergola shot down by county,as not a permanent structure part of house, too narrow for concrete pad.

Plants are always nice and having a patio is a bonus! Your idea sounds perfect!

You could buy a good pop up canopy with strong legs. I find that a 5 sided canopy sheds water off the roof better than the regular four side models. I secure one to my deck every summer and take it down in the late fall. It does have to be secured. And you do need to spend a little more to get one with strong legs that will not bend in a strong wind storm.

Can't secure it and county won't let temporary things like a canopy. The site is at the end of a driveway, visible to inspectors and all walking or driving by. Neighbor had canopy for driveway in winter, was told unless it was permanently attached to house and ground, met code, it was not allowed. Good idea, though.
