How do I insulatetheoutside of my house??
What is the most effective method of insulating my house from the exterior? What products are the best? What thickness or "R" value insulation is recommended? And can the average handyman do the job alone? Thanks. Frank

What is on the outside of the house right now? Insulation usually goes in the walls.
Some kind of cement board. Will require cement nails to secure anything on the outside of the house. The roof was previously replaced and new windows installed (thicker to accommodate insulation and siding). Currently there is no siding on the house, just stucco and weather wrap. Would like to install CanExel. Current insulation is negligible. Hydro bills are impossible to keep up with.
My house was insulated by the exterior siding being removed and rigid foam insulation was added, and then wrapped. Depending on your climate would decide the thickness to pick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHj8Qxp3Bfk
The other alternative is to cut holes in the siding and blow-in insulation. Home Depot will give you the machine to blow it in if you buy 20 bags. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EIXb9SSHqA
