To renew a wooden deck, first replace any cracked or weakened boards, scrub the surface with a deck cleaner of your choice. Using a power washer is best but a long handled brush will work, but take longer. Rinse thoroughly. If any stains are left, work on those and rinse. Apply deck brighter. Rinse. Apply a water based sealer with a large paint pad on a long handle. Allow to dry and enjoy! power wash, coat with olympic stain. I use this system on my deck in Canada/ Olympic will last for several years. It is expensive but watch for sales. Comes in many colors. We put it on with a roller.

If you must put something on it, use only the transparent stain. Anything else will probably peel over time and cause you headaches. Clean well first with a power washer and soap and then rinse thoroughly. Let dry completely before painting.

A powerwasher will clean your deck even without a cleaner, make sure it’s completely dry before staining. If deck is in bad shape try Pli-Dek a spongy surfacing so no need to worry about splinters
