What can I replace this pool with?

Dee
by Dee

I am going to remove above ground pool, and the deck attached to it. It is too much for me to maintain. I am planning on leaving the deck that is attached, where you go up the steps but removing the one by the poolAny suggestions on what to put in their place, that will not be too expensive, and easy to maintain.

The lower deck is adjacent with the house. A french door opens up to it. That is the one I am leaving. I am also leaving the pond.

This is actually an older picture, but do not have a more updated one, with new landscaping, and sidewalks.

Found an updated one, with new sidewalk!

I would extend the rock area that you have at the foot of the steps.

Dee, you already have a beautiful area with rocks, you could continue with that theme or maybe lay a flagstone or brick patio where the pool came out.

I think I would put in a few trees and some evergreen and flowering shrubs with some flowers around them.

Your pond and rock garden area is so lovely. I would continue that to replace the pool area.

I would hire a pool boy and leave it as is. The pool area is beautiful!

Maybe add a miniature weeping cherry tree and a bench?

I agree with either extending the stone area with pavers, flag stone, or patio blocks. A floating deck would also look good.

Yes, I did get an estimate for a patio. Way to expensive. I don't even use the decks that I have any more, and trying to downsize on maintenace.

Guess I will probably just get top soil etc, and lay some sod, or grass seed. I will keep all the suggestions in mind.

      Thanks

Depending on where you live..... I would either continue the rock garden. Only I would add dimensions with boulders and river rock and add succulents.

I think a short flowing tree might also me nice like a dwarf crepe myrtle.

Or..... raised flower bed. Maybe 3 layers. Inexpensive but a lot of work.

Or lastly, another cozy sitting area. Like a lounge, very simple and relaxing. Love seat with ottoman, painted spools (or natural) for end table. If you want to go big add a pergola.

    Have fun !!!

A pool is a lot of work but... If It was me I'd keep it! If you take it out.... I'd suggest a large fire pit with a pergola around it some nice oversized chairs some white curtains to add privacy, privacy bushes that will create a Backyard Oasis. Maybe a bench swing or even a back yard bed. Here are some Ideas...

You can put down your own patio or build a deck. With the upgrades you may end up using it and the existing decks. Such a wasted space not to use. wish I had that space. Would make a great sitting area, entertaining area for family and friends.
