a natural growth. Ivy or grape vine or wisteria. Or even a small tree
Sail shades! Cheap, easy to put up and take down for the winter.
I would make some type of screening that you can easily store in the garage or shed and not make it permanent so that you can take it down when it starts getting cold. Make some frames, screen or put something like canvas drop cloths on them and you can connect them to the rails around the deck. I have an offset umbrella that works really well and we store it in the shed over the winter.
