How do I make a chain link fence more private?
My neighbor has a chain link fence on the property line for both our back yards. They have a very messy back yard & I would like to block the view of their yard, but I do not want to plant bushes or hedges I want a quick fix without costing a fortune. Any ideas?

Reese...I have heard of people taking mini or whatever size blinds apart and putting them through the links of the fence. Weaving through would be what you would need and the vinyl blinds were what they used. You can google "make chain link fence privacy ideas" for some you can purchase.
I put weed barrier about half way up on ours because their yard was washing onto my driveway. I think you could do something like that for the entire height because it's very durable. They also make slats that you can weave through the links but I have only seen them at businesses for privacy, not sure where to purchase.
There are plastic slats made for this.
There’s construction fence netting made for this.
There’s also bamboo fencing, that’s a bamboo “mat” and you’d wire it to the fence.

If it's your neighbors fence you cannot do anything to it or touch it without their permission. Get it in writing, text, or email and save. You don't want to get sued. Seem many cases on Peoples Court. Also the fence cannot be directly on the property line. Basic codes state three inches minimum from the property line. What I would do is mount lattice panels on my side of the property line to block most of the view. Also check you local codes for fence height so you don't exceed them.
I think William has the right idea. Get lattice and mount it on fence posts of your own, on your side of the line.
Actually, planting a row of bushes suitable for your climate might be the easiest thing to do. Just plant them far enough from the fence to allow for future growth.
