Only been two years and it's all peeling off. Should I coat over it again or sand it off and go back to just regular stain? So frustrating that stuff is expensive :(
I would try power washing it off. Then restain or repaint. This is what we did on my sisters deck.
AHA! Another deck over product complaint. Tons of bad reviews. There are class action lawsuits against some manufacturers. Cracks and peels within two years. Some people have removed what they can, some have replaced deck boards, some have even replaced all deck boards. Try to remove what you can. Strippers, heat gun, ice chipper scraper. Then use a good deck stain. Clean and refinish every four years.
I believe a lot of folks are having problems with these super deck paints. I would get it all off and go for the stained look, and just power wash every couple of years.
I agree. You can rent a power washer (or purchase one) to get what's left on your deck off. Then paint or stain. I prefer the stained look. Good luck.
Does power washing take it all off? yeah, the way its chipping now probably wouldn't take much.. Lesson learned don't buy that stuff stick withoil based stain!!!
I know Behr and Rustoleum are. You can check the Olympic site and see what they are doing to resolve the problem.
