Need ideas for deck flashing that isn't wood. Thanks

Our new deck sets high. Want something that will allow air flow and looks nice. Railings have some wrought iron posts on them.

  • There are deck standoffs like the Maine deck bracket which creates a gap for water to flow or you can go with vinyl - I am assuming you are talking about between the house & wall. Final option, go with a free standing deck

    No it is attached to house over and old patio. Want underneath sides and front covered with something besides wood.

    I also have a wooden high deck. If I had it to do over, I would use fencing material much like a fence around the yard to build a "fence" around my deck. I would use treated wood and would not make it over 8' high and put gates in it. I would level underneath, pour some concrete pads and build storage pods for garden tools (they would have slanted roofs to let the rain flow off.

    We used 4x8 sheets of lattice and painted it they have plastic and cedar so it lasts a long time

    Hog wire is great for airflow.
