DIY Outdoor Privacy Screen
For outside curtains I always have used drop cloths from a hardware store. They come in several different sizes. I think your screen door idea would be good because it still allows air to flow through.
You could consider using bamboo curtains. Most home centers sell them for outdoor use....They come in a couple of different styles and can usually be rolled up when you want more light, etc.
I've seen many people using lattice and it looks beautiful
Tension rods and pretty shower curtains or king sized flat sheets with clip rings.
We purchase pre-assembled trellis and nailed it to our from porch. We grow all kinds of beautiful vines on it, and it gives our front porch privacy!
Polyester holds up better in the sun than cotton. Some people use polyester shower curtains.

Use shower curtains. They are weather proof already. I ordered mine on Amazon and personalized them. If you use the same picture you can get them for around $24 each. I put a liner behind most, but the 2nd one does not have liner (not plastic, but solid black liner)
