That corner space where the flag pole used to be looks like the perfect nook for a pond. I would add lots of river rock surrounding it. Great space to work with!
i Think that putting in a curved space from the porch (right side as you look at the house) to the edge of the garage would be ideal. You need some height in the corner, maybe a small water fall using rocks to give the water sound. Use the rocks from the garden around the pond and add some low growing low maintenance plants..,seedum, creeping phlox, pinks...add some taller plants in the background yucca, day Lily, lilies, iris. Have your stepping stones follow the curve of the pond, add coloured mulch in between the rocks if you don’t want to plant the entire space
