If you only need roofing replaced and there's no damage to the decking, you can do it yourself. Shingles aren't difficult to lay. I had to re-do mine a few years back. The only problem I had was the bundles are heavy.

I cut the old shingles and removed. Laid new tar paper. Then started placing shingles with tacks. The first row has to be laid down backwards. Then a second layer laid down the regular way. You will need to stagger the pattern so the tabs aren't lined up straight (look at existing roof). Remember to leave a little overhang on the edges. Do it on a day that is a little warm and the tacks will drive in so much easier. Just not too hot or you will melt!

if It’s a simple shed roof, standing seam metal roofing might be a fresh look for you. Front porches can have accent finishes that don’t match the rest of the House.
