Do you mean there is a space between the decking of the porch and the ground? Do you walk up steps to get to this porch? We have three porches and they all have space between the decking and the ground, maybe about 3 feet. Far as I know these spaces are never filled with anything and really are too open to house "critters"
or get some wire hardware cloth and bury the edge and staple to the ledge underneath to keep the critters out. You can also make a frame for the hardware cloth, so its removable.
