What is a good stone or tile to cover our patio?

Fieldstone was suggested but it is very expensive. Would another type of stone or tile work?

There is no stone that is cheap, as it is heavy, strong, and made for outdoor weather. Nothing beats is as far as a no-maintenace surface, longevity, and durability.
What is it about your patio that you don't like, and what is it about stone or tile that you think you would like.?

I would use flag stone. Some times you can go to a local cory and offer cash. They might give you a break on the price.
