Leveling stone and sand base should have been put down first,next there is a paver sand to be put down for in-between
If you can find polymeric sand it will help to keep the weeds out of the cracks...other than that, contractors sand or play sand will work
Silica sand. You can get it at any place that sells pavers or bricks....Home Depot, Menards, Meijer, etc. This will keep the area between the stones weed free. Hope this helps.
