Canvas! Try a boat supply place ..some material stores do carry waterproof stuff!

You'll want an indoor/outdoor fabric made of a hundred percent polyester or acrylic. Fabric Guru, Fabric.com both carries quality indoor/outdoor fabrics. I know Walmart used to also, but not sure if they do anymore. Oh, and Hobby Lobby is another one and you could use their 40% off coupon right now. http://www.hobbylobby.com/weekly/coupon.cfm

Sunbrella is the best, but there are some comparable store brands as well. I get it wholesale and can sell it. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/outdoor-furniture-redo-with-sunbrella-3741533

JoAnn Fabrics has sunbrella on sale right now...it won't fade or mildew!

@Carmen to cut costs you might be able to use a tarp for the awning. Very limited in color choices, but they are tough and meant to be exposed to the weather. That way you'd only have to recover the cushions. I'm sure if you used a blue or the green tarp you'd be able to find some fabric that would coordinate. Please do come back and share the before and after pictures.
