Would like ideas to spruce up ugly driveway.

Power wash, pour boiling water on any weeds/grass growing through cracks (pull the debris once plants have wilted), seal any cracks and paint either a coordinating color to your house or with a design (overlarge daisy, grid, stripes, zigzags, chevrons, footprints, children's (grandchildren's) hands and feet for a few ideas.

Is it the driveway itself or do you mean curb appeal on either side of drive way. If it's the driveway itself what's so ugly about it? You can dig up grass on either side prepare ground and place paver or bricks to add interest and enlarge it then behind then along grass continue the upgrade with some hosta which come in plenty of varieties so that you can add low to the ground interest alternating the hosta just don't plant to close together because they will spread but unlike other plants thatspread these just get fuller but retain their circular shape and best thing is that they can be divided or just left to really make an impact once the plants have gotten very full. You don't have to shape them like bushes, you don't have to worry about them reseeding in weird places throughout your lawn. Just water. Of course I would also make any repairs to driveway itself and you may want to use that paint that keeps it looking wet all the time it just makes it look clean but if you have asphalt don't use that paint but definitely freshen it up this spring. You can add planters on either side of garage door just make them tall and add plants that grow up grow medium and ones that flow over such as a vine.
