Building My She Shed

2 Materials
1 Week

She Sheds are all the rage. Come watch us build mine step by step and get a link to the plans.

My little cottage is my favorite place to be on a cold winters day (and a hot summer one too).

We started by building a level surface that will also be the floor of the cottage/she shed. This is important as all the walls will be built on this plane.

Each wall is lifted into place and temporarily secured. The building was built in panels that can be taken apart for transport then reassembled on site.

With the high pitch of the ceiling we were able to add a loft. This works great for storage, and the open ceiling makes the small space feel so much roomier.

It all comes together in short order and is soon ready to be hauled to its final home.

A small porch is added. Please hop on over to the blog to see more of my little She Shed in progress.

Adding a touch of gingerbread detail to the front porch gives this simple little square building some vintage charm.

Its a great place to be in Summer as well. Though this little space is only 12' x 12', it is worth its weight in gold.

I actually was thinking of something similar for my flower design and crafting is just too messy in the house proper..but I do live in the snow belt..was your shed does not show that..I am assuming the heat source would be electric..that is the safest and most practical..I use electric devices to design and finish my creations..i.e. glue gun..electric staple, etc..I I would buy your design...the loft idea is great for my storage of bulky materials..I usually hang my finished products from the rafters in my basement to keep them safe from accidental falls...thanks for your thoughts..JR

LOVE IT! I plan on making myself a "she shed" once we sell our home and move. Mine will be made out of old shutters which I have already. Now I need to figure out what I'm going to use as a floor. Hmm. It looks like yours was done by a contractor or a kit? mine WON'T be done as nice as yours!

No, we built this ourselves from scratch. If you follow the links to the blog post you will see we have actual architectural plans available that my husband drew up. Mine is very much a working painting studio and having the insulation and running water is very important for me to have. Plus it is easier to heat in winter so I can use it year round.
