A client who happens to be an artist was looking for a stall to display his artwork, but he wasn't sure exactly what he wanted. Because we live in a harbor city, I got to thinking and came up with this crazy idea- I"ll build a ship for him!

It works as a display shelf as well, and I think it came out pretty great!

The first thing I did was I worked on building the body frame. I used 100 x 40 mm pine lumber.

Then I added some plywood to cover the frame.

Once the whole body was covered with plywood, then I've covered all with a water proof material to protect it if there is rain.

Then I added a little compartment for my client to store his paints overnight.

Then it was time to bring it all together! I added some anchors to the side of the ship, and painted the exterior a coat of white with some patina.

And attached the panels for the artwork to be displayed.

It's looking good! And I had one real happy client!

I'm really proud of this project!

Reminds me of a salt water taffy stores boat they used to have in Newport Oregon! It was an open top big blue boat that was sectioned off into like 100 sections for all the flavors of salt water taffy! It was amazing!
