It's time to kiss your boring walls goodbye with a painted stencil pattern. We have a large collection of stencil patterns so there's bound to be one that will capture your heart and take your space from blah to ooh la la. Today we’re going to share a dining room makeover using our Drifting Arrows Wall Stencil. Come take a look...
We'd like to introduce Maggie, a creative DIYer and the interior designer behind Maggie Miller Interiors.  Maggie had a pretty dining space but it felt like it lacked her personal touch. Here is what her dining room looked like before:
The traditional space lacked Maggie's designer flair.  She knew she wanted to add some pattern to the walls.  Wallpaper was not an option because it was too expensive and a hassle to install. Maggie searched for alternative DIY wallpaper options and fell in love with the idea of stenciling.  She browsed our large collection of stencil patterns before selecting the Drifting Arrows Stencil.  This stencil combines the trendy herringbone and arrow patterns into one stylish stencil design.
The walls had been painted in a pretty gray hue.  With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start her project!  She used blue painter's tape to hold the geometric pattern in place.  She poured her light gray paint into a foam tray and then painted the pattern using a dense foam roller.  The clip on stencil level is a very handy stenciling tool for a project like because it will help ensure the pattern is even on the wall.
If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to roll off any excess paint to eliminate bleed.  After each section of the stencil is complete, simply untape it and reposition to finish the pattern on the wall. It can be helpful to clean the stencil in between uses.  For more information on how to stencil, please check out our stencil tutorials. Once her stenciled walls were complete, Maggie stepped back to admire her beautiful wallpaper pattern.
Maggie updated her dining room decor and had this to say about her project, "My newly stenciled dining room was certainly less expensive than wallpapering ... and I could not be happier with the finished result! icon ??"
Here is a close up of her impressive accent wall! We love the soft, soothing color combination that she chose for this geometric design.
Here is a before and after.  Wow, the stencil pattern makes such a big difference!
